The IU men's tennis team took out its frustration from a 4-3 loss to No. 15 Louisville by pounding Vincennes University 7-0 on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Jeremy Langer rebounded from a straight-set loss to Louisville's Austen Childs by beating the No. 8 junior college player in the country, Lendl Smith, 6-3, 6-2.

Freshmen Josh MacTaggart (6-1, 6-2), Isade Juneau (7-5, 6-2) and Alex van Gils (6-4, 6-2) also earned straight-set wins at No. 2, 3 and 4 singles, respectively. Sophomores Will Kendall and Stephen Vogl also won singles matches for the Hoosiers.

IU coach Randy Bloemendaal said the match against Vincennes allowed his players to get their heads straight before a pair of weekend road matches against No. 5 Ohio State and No. 61 Penn State.

"One or two guys just didn't play up to their potential (against Louisville)," Bloemendaal said. "If we break through a couple more barriers, then we are there. We had a very good opportunity and we just needed one more match.

"The thing that really got us back in line with where we need to be mentally was beating Vincennes."

MacTaggart, Ferguson keep rolling

The doubles team of MacTaggart and junior Lachlan Ferguson won two more matches at No. 1 doubles to run their win streak to seven. They are currently ranked No. 48 in doubles and they defeated the No. 24 tandem of Childs and Alejandro Calligari.
