Sophomore Evgeniya Vertesheva is the Big Ten Player of the Week after going 4-0 in matches over the weekend, the conference announced today.
Vertesheva is in her first season as a Hoosier after playing her freshman season at California State-Northridge. Her record currently stands at 15-2 in singles play and 9-6 in doubles for the year.
During the weekend, Vertesheva played No. 2 singles and partnered up with senior Lindsey Stuckey for No. 2 doubles against Miami University before ascending to the No. 1 slots in both for the Hoosiers' match with Ball State.
Vertesheva and her teammates return to the court Saturday for a pair of home matches against Marquette and Cincinnati.
