Bruce Weber said one of his assistant coaches put a one on the chalkboard when Illinois went into the locker room at halftime.

It was the number of shots Mike Tisdale had taken in the first half.

He would get seven more in the second half, and take four free throws in clutch time for Illinois.

Tisdale didn't have the same 27 point, 9 rebound effort he had in Bloomington.

He also shot 13-of-14 from the free-throw line at the older Assembly Hall.

The difference could be credited to his team's avoidance of the post or IU's bigger lineup, as Crean attempted to move away from the three-guard lineup for rebound's sake.

When the game was on the line, though, no one other than Tisdale and junior guard Demetri McCamey took a shot.

Down the wire, big Tisdale scored every Illinois point between Bill Cole's 3-pointer for 64-64 and McCamey's layup for 72-70.

Making free throws and midrange shots, he scored six consecutive baskets, as IU big men struggled to contain the 7-foot-1 center for a second time.
