Everyone is talking about it, so I decided to lay the stats out here on Hoosier Hype.
It was obvious that the free-throw line had an effect on IU's 66-60 loss to Illinois, whether the foul discrepancy was based on bad officiating or IU's inability to sneak its fouls past the referees.
To avoid any more lead-in, here are the numbers. Nothing more.
IU
Personal fouls: 28
Player with four fouls: 5
Free-throw attempts: 18
Shots made from charity stripe: 10
Free-throw percentage: 55 percent
Illinois
Personal fouls: 17
Players with four fouls: 2
Free-throw attempts: 39
Shots made from charity stripe: 27
Free-throw percentage: 69 percent
So what do you all think was at the root of these numbers?
