Darryl Hicks, a 6-foot-4 guard from Shelby County High School in Kentucky, confirmed yesterday to the Louisville Courier-Journal that he received a scholarship offer from IU.

Hicks is the top freshman prospect in Kentucky and ranks among the top 25 nationally for the class of 2013. This is the first scholarship offer he has received. Hicks has taken an unofficial visit to Bloomington, as well as to Cincinnati and Ohio State.

He said he is very impressed with all that IU coach Tom Crean has to offer.

"It's been exciting for me because Tom Crean is a great basketball coach and he went to the Final Four with Dwyane Wade," Hicks said. "It's really fun and exciting."
