John Clay just keeps running. And running.
With 134 rushing yards and one touchdown, Clay led Wisconsin to a 24-14 halftime lead against IU. Wisconsin posted 196 rushing yards in the first half.
IU took an early lead after safety Collin Taylor recovered a muffed punt at Wisconsin's 10-yard line. IU quarterback Ben Chappell connected with receiver Tandon Doss two plays later to take a 7-0 lead.
But then Wisconsin started running. Anchored by a 48-yard rush by Clay, Wisconsin marched the ball down the field and quarterback Scott Tolzien found Isaac Anderson in the end zone for an 18-yard score.
In the second quarter, Badger running back Montee Ball scored on a 1-yard run and kicker Philip Welch added a field goal as Wisconsin built a 17-7 lead.
IU responded briefly with two long pass plays from Chappell, including a 46-yard pass to Doss for his second touchdown of the day.
Clay scored his first touchdown in the final two minutes of the half with a 12-yard burst to the end zone, giving Wisconsin its 24-14 halftime lead.
