The IU volleyball team looks to finish the weekend with a split as it heads to Columbus for a match against Ohio State at 7 p.m. today.
Some noteworthy facts as the Hoosiers (14-9, 3-6) prepare to battle the Buckeyes (16-6, 4-5):
- Ohio State leads the all-time series 42-21 and boasts a 24-6 advantage at home.
- IU, however, won both meetings in 2008. The Hoosiers won the Oct. 17 match by scores of 22-25, 25-15, 25-18 and 29-27 to kick off Hoosier Hysteria, and then they escaped Columbus with another four-set victory by scores of 14-25, 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21 on Nov. 29.
- The Buckeyes rank second in the Big Ten in both hitting percentage (.267) and service aces per game (1.58).
- Freshman setter Amanda Peterson and freshman outside hitter Emily Danks rank second and fifth, respectively, in the conference in service aces per game. Peterson averages 0.49 aces per game and Danks 0.41.
- Ohio State junior outside hitter Katie Dull ranks fourth in the Big Ten in kills per game with 3.91. IU junior middle blocker Ashley Benson and freshman outside hitter Jordan Haverly rank sixth and seventh, respectively, with averages of 3.46 and 3.44.
- The Buckeyes welcome both Indiana's Big Ten schools this weekend, writes Allyson Kraemer in The Lantern.
The Hoosiers return home next weekend for matches against Illinois Friday and Northwestern Saturday.
