With all the debate surrounding Ben Chappell's final pass on Saturday against Michigan, I would like to add a very interesting article from ESPN Big Ten blogger Adam Rittenberg.
He interviewed Wolverine cornerback Donovan Warren about the call--ruled an interception rather than a simultaneous catch--and whether he indeed picked off Chappell.
In the piece, Warren said:
"I tried to bait the quarterback and back up a little bit, but I knew I was going to time the route," Warren told me. "I just dove and I caught the ball first. The receiver's arms got tangled within my arms to try to snatch the ball away from me on the way to the ground. Once he was on the ground, I wrestled his arms away from my arms and tried to come up with the ball and show the ref that I had the interception."So Warren definitely had the ball first?
"Yes, definitely," he said. "I caught the ball first."
