Here's an article by Kevin Armstrong of Sports Illustrated about Kyrie Irving's fallout with IU fans after dropping the Hoosiers off of his prospective school list. The article touches not only on Irving, but on the issue of these kids, still no more than 18 years of age, connecting with and speaking to members of prospective universities and how it can negatively impact their decision.

Personally, I agree with the point conveyed by the article. These are just kids, and they do not deserve the scrutiny and ill wishes of others, especially over a public forum, just because they choose to go to or not go to a specific college or university.

However, I see the point others would make, too. Irving, in making a Twitter page, has put himself into a public forum, so why SHOULDN'T he be held accountable for doing so? If HE created the account and HE posts the messages/tweets, then HE should be held accountable for making himself a public figure.

Still, there is a level of class and etiquette involved on these forums. If you're dealing with a 17-year-old, even if it's a high-profile recruit, there should be a certain amount of sensitivity toward that person's situation and that should be taken into account when dealing with them.

As Irving said in one of his tweets:

I'm really sorry to disappoint you IU fans but please do not write negative stuff on my Twitter page...it's kinda getting out hand now

I'd have to agree.
