Hamilton Heights junior Austin Etherington recently received an offer from IU. The four-star recruit, according to Scout.com, had his chance to play in front of Tom Crean and IU assistant Bennie Seltzer this afternoon.

Though teammates Jeremiah Davis and Dee Davis led the way, Etherington flashed signs of lots of potential in Indiana Elite/Team Indiana's 20-point win.

Etherington often camped behind the arc, but his outside shot was a bit off today. Nevertheless, he did drop one in, was very agressive and worked very well with his teammates. He probably had around 10 points and three assists, though i didn't keep track.

With the Davis' in the backcourt, Etherington was forced to play mostly the "3" position, though the 6-foot-5 recruit calls himself a "two-guard who can shoot the ball." He also runs the point at times during high school ball, he said.

Etherington holds offers from IU, Butler, Xavier, New Mexico and Oklahoma State. He said Crean would want him as a guard in the backcourt with 2011 commit Matt Carlino, should he opt to play for IU.

With a busy AAU season, Etherington won't be taking many visits, though he may try to make it out to Oklahoma State.

To get ready for the collegiate level, Etherington is trying to improve all aspects of his game, while also working on "trying to draw some conact on penetration"
