Hi all,

Sorry I'm late. My spring break sleeping cycle has already kicked, and that doesn't work well with 9 a.m. games -- good thing I write instead of play.

The Hoosiers, however, are using their spring break to gain wins thus far. IU defeated Bowling Green 15-7 today. Both teams hit the ball well as they teetered around the 15-hit range. The difference in the contest was timely hitting; something IU has had a tough time with in recent weeks.

Integral to that performance was the hitting of first baseman Jerrud Sabourin and DH Alex Dickerson, who each tallied a home run and scored a run of their own on the day. Sabourin continued a great string of performances, but Dickerson had the best day of any Hoosiers, going 3-for-5 with five RBI. Sabourin went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

While they performed well on offense, the Hoosiers did commit two errors, which were both credited to third baseman Cody Webber. Errors have plagued IU throughout the season, and IU coach Tracy Smith has spoken about the continued presence of errors, saying multiple times that they have to cease for his team to be successful.

Besides the two errors, pitcher Eric Arnett obviously had good defense behind him. He allowed nine hits and only struck out two in six innings of work. Freshman pitcher Drew Leininger, who had a tough start against Indiana State earlier this year, pitched three decent inning relieving Arnett. He struck out three in three innings and only allowed two earned runs.

The IU baseball team has gotten off to a great start, and maybe they'll pull out those eight wins you guys were talking about in the comments.
