IU coach Bill Lynch will make his annual recruiting/signing presentation to the media Wednesday.
Basically, Lynch outlines each signee's strengths and talks about where he'll fit on the team next year. He does this via a power point presentation (or, at least that's what he has done in the past).
After his power point, Lynch will sit through a question and answer session with the media then, typically, he'll announce the captains for the upcoming season's squad. This past season, IU's captains were cornerback Chris Phillips, linebacker Will Patterson and running back Marcus Thigpen. Thigpen and Phillips have used all their eligibility.
I think the captain position is one of the most underrated on a team. Last year's captains were too quiet, all, except for Patterson. Remeber, Patterson came out and said not all his teammates were giving 100% percent every down. Well, turns out the media never saw him again after a game. It will be interesting to see if he's retained as captain. I think he should.
We'll be sure to recap Lynch's presentation and bring you the captains for the 2009 season. Don't forget, Ohio State and Michigan are back on the schedule. And, to my recollection, they are back-to-back games with the Buckeyes coming here and the Hoosiers traveling to Ann Arbor.
Here's to reshaping the future of IU football!
