There is one scenario where the Hoosiers could get the #5 seed and a first round bye in the Big Ten Tournament next week. On Monday night they got one step closer. Minnesota, the current number five team lost to Northwestern. The Gophers now drop to 10-6 in the Big Ten. On Thursday they play a very difficult game against Michigan State. If the Gophers loose that game and their finale at home against Illinois, the Hoosiers would control their own destiny and a win on Sunday would give them the five spot in the conference.

This is all speculation, but here are the standings of the Hoosiers and Gophers with the remaining games left.

5) Minnesota: 10-6 (at Michigan State on Thursday and home vs. Illinois on Sunday)

6) Indiana: 10-7 (at home vs. Michigan on Sunday)
