Hey y'all,
Our women's soccer reporter, Brandon Smith, is experiencing difficulties gaining access to Corner Kick, so he sent me a long a post he wanted to share with you.
Enjoy.
The IU women's soccer team currently sits at the bottom of the Big Ten Conference standings with four points. Only the top eight teams in the 11-team league make the Big Ten Tournament. Currently occupying the eight spot are three teams (Wisconsin, Illinois and Northwestern) each with nine points. So this is pretty easy, the Hoosiers NEED to win both games against Michigan and Michigan State (and most likely receive some help) to give them a chance to make it to the tournament.
Don't let the current 6-10-1, 1-6-1 record fool you though. All six of the Hoosiers conference losses have come by one goal each. Mick Lyon's squad is more than capable of sweeping the weekend with two wins. Coming off the momentum of last week's tie against conference leader Purdue and win against Illinois, the Hoosiers control their own destiny.
So what do you think? Can the Hoosiers carry the momentum into this weekend's home finales to give them a chance to play in the conference tournament? Or is it too little too late? Will the slow conference start come back to haunt the Hoosiers?
