A source confirmed to the IDS late Monday night that Indianapolis attorney Fred Glass will be the next athletics director at Indiana University.
A press conference is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Tuesday to formally announce Glass as the successor to AD Rick Greenspan. Glass comes to IU from the Indianapolis law firm Baker & Daniels.
He has past experience with the NCAA and facilities management, and it would appear he has a wealth of administrative experience as well.
Glass was the third candidate for a search in which the hotly rumored duo of Scott Dolson and Bob De Carolis were thought to be front runners. His name emerged only today in an Indianapolis Business Journal report.
The decision comes just past four months to the day that Rick Greenspan announced he would step down as AD at the end of the calendar year.
The decision concludes a process that began officially about two months ago, and included a search committee chaired by IU vice president for engagement Bill Stephan and including IU men's basketball coach Tom Crean.
