Hey all, sorry for putting this post up so late. I meant to do it yesterday but got bogged up between homework and some other IDS stuff. That said, I'd like to pass along a couple of observations from yesterday's practice.
As reported today, junior safety Austin Thomas did not practice and stood on the sidelines in street clothes. After practice today, we will ask IU coach Bill Lynch if he can clarify whether or not Thomas will play and if this means sophomore Jerimy Finch will start at safety. From my own conversations with students at IU, the consensus is people want to see Finch in a bigger role. But since he really hasn't had that much time on the field, would you take him over Thomas?
Junior quarterback Kellen Lewis looked good in the passing game, completing most of his passes in 7-on-7 scrimmages. Sophomore quarterback Ben Chappell fared well, too, and took a couple of more shots down the field.
Toward the end of practice, the Hoosiers worked on a couple of trick plays. Because they are trick plays, we cannot talk about them in detail because that ruins the element of surprise for IU. Let's just say, though, that Lynch certainly used his imagination to come up with those plays.
I'm going to put up my conversations with junior running back Demetrius McCray and junior wide receiver Andrew Means shortly. Please sound off on whatever comes across your mind, Finch and if you want us to pass along a question to Lynch, send those over as well. Thanks guys.
