As I was settling down for lunch just now, my cell rang and it was potential Hoosier, Blake Monar. A pleasant surprise, Monar wanted to fill me in on what happened post getting drafted by the Yankees in the 26th round.

"The 26th round doesn't really matter, because I'm not going to get 26th round money," he said. "This doesn't increase or decrease my chances of whether or not I'll be at IU."

He said the Yanks offered him money just over what an average fifth rounder would make. An offer he turned down.

Monar said he will get another offer from the Yankees organization sometime later this summer, upon which he will make his final decision on whether or not to skip school and turn pro.

Continue checking back in to the Inside Pitch for more updates on Monar, and other news surrounding the Hoosier baseball team.

Stay afloat Indiana.
