This from the good people down at IU Athletics: HOOSIERS EARN ALL-BIG TEN HONORS

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Sophomore Jamie Braun and juniors Whitney Thomas and Kim Roberson were honored by Big Ten coaches and media with postseason accolades, the league office announced on Monday, March 3.

Braun earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors from both the media and coaches. She led the Hoosiers with 15.3 points per game on the season and averaged 16.3 points against Big Ten foes. Braun finished fifth in scoring among league leaders and led Indiana with 3.3 assists per game.

Thomas earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors from the league's media and third team honors from its coaches after averaging 11.9 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest. She ranked third in rebounding within the Big Ten and recorded 11 double-doubles on the season. She also averaged 2.1 steals and 2.0 assists per game.

Roberson earned Big Ten All-Defensive Team honors after leading the Hoosiers with 2.7 steals per game. She etched her name in the IU record book when she came away with a single-game record of nine thefts vs. Wake Forest on Nov. 22, and ranked second in the Big Ten in the category.

The sixth-seeded Hoosiers will take on the 11th-seeded Northwestern Wildcats on Thursday, March 6 at approximately 2:50 p.m. ET at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis in the first round of the 2008 Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Xbox 360 Live. IU's battle with Northwestern will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network and on WHCC 105.1 FM in Bloomington.

Also, my cohort in crime, Brian Buckey, has an article in tomorrow's (today's if you're reading this Wednesday) IDS about Jamie Braun's breakout season. Check it out by clicking here.

So there you have it, three Hoosiers with All-Big Ten honors. I'll be back tomorrow to talk about that in more detail and throw in a quick handicapping of the Big Ten tournament - or at least the first couple of rounds.

But for now, what do you think? Did the Hoosiers get the recognition they deserved? Should they have gotten more, either individually or as a team?

Charlie Creme said yesterday in his live chat that IU will probably need to win the Big Ten tournament to get to the NCAAs. Is that a fair assessment of the Hoosiers' season? Sound off below.
