IU 79-76, FINAL SCORE

Stemler hit just one of two, but Iowa had no timeouts and could not get the ball back down the floor. Hats off to Iowa and Justin Johnson for a gutsy ending. Incredible shots by Johnson, but it was too little, too late.

Justin Johnson is ridiculous. He is hitting threes that no other man in the world can hit. Iowa is down just two with 3.3 left. Stemler is at the line.

---

Stemler stays on the court.

---

Iowa is making the end of this game more interesting than it should be by hitting threes. Lance Stemler limped off the court toward the IU bench after trying to contest another made Hawkeye three.

---

A couple dunks by D.J. White keeps a surging Iowa team at bay. IU 65-56 with 5:21 left in the game.

---

IU 59-51

An acrobatic lay-in gives Eric Gordon the first part of a three-point play the hard way.

---

IU 54-49, 9:12 remaining

But the Hoosiers pick up their seventh team foul in the half.

So, about 75 percent of the commercials on the Big Ten Network are for the Big Ten Network. Wouldn't they make more money if they lowered their asking price for Comcast and had more viewers and more commercials?

---

IU 47-44

Lance Stemler hits a big 3-pointer.

---

Iowa 44-42, 13:30

IU is playing sloppy, sloppy basketball. Bad passes, rushed shots, silly fouls. Recipe for an upset.

---

But everytime the Hawkeyes call timeout, they go on a run to silence the Hoosiers.

Iowa 40-38 with 16:20 in the second half.

---

38-34, IU

The Hoosiers score a quick four points and force Iowa to use its second to last time out.

---

34-34, IU and Iowa are tied at halftime.

The Hawkeyes have used strong 3-point shooting to hang with the more-talented Hoosiers in the first half. Eric Gordon has a few turnovers and shot poorly from the field toward the end of the first half. Armon Bassett only played the first few minutes before sitting on the bench for the rest of the half.

Maybe a soft non-conference schedule with just one road game is catching up to the Hoosiers.

---

31-30 Iowa, 2:23

The Hawkeyes take the lead after two dunks, one IU foul and a muffed rebound by D.J. White.

28-25 IU, 3:38 first half

Eric Gordon started off hot, but has been cold from the field ever since.

---

22-17, IU 8:34 first half

The Hoosiers have the lead, but a lot of fouls in the early going.

---

A.J. Ratliff subs in for the first time this season.

---

12-9, Iowa

Iowa jumps out to an early lead against IU. The Hoosiers had all the momentum in the first few minutes of the game, but fouls, slow defense and poor shot selection has IU playing from behind.

Mike here, coming at you live from Carver Hawkeye Arena Fort Wayne, Ind. I am going to be watching IU's Big Ten opener at Iowa tonight and posting observations from the game. The Hoosiers are favorites in the game, but it's been a while since they escaped Iowa City with a victory.
