Zach and I are here at Assembly Hall for the first IU-Minnesota basketball game of the night. While the men's team prepares for action at the Barn, I'll keep you posted as the women take on the Golden Gophers and look to improve to 4-2 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers sit in a 5-way tie for third in the conference, while Minnesota sits alone in second. Looks like we're about ready for the opening tip. Should be a good game.
15:33 to play: IU leads 11-5 Nikki Smith drained an early 3-pointer and every starter has since scored a basket for the Hoosiers. Korinne Campbell has two early baskets for Minnesota. IU is rebounding well again early and has been able to get out in transition a little bit against the Gophers.
11:37 to play: IU leads 18-13 Nikki Smith is playing well early. She hit another 3 and scored on a nice drive to the basket. Emily Fox finally scored two baskets for the Gophers, but Korinne Campbell is leading Minnesota's attack early with 8 points.
7:46 to play: IU leads 27-15 Great stretch for the Hoosiers. IU is really defending and rebounding very well. Minnesota has already committed six turnovers. Once again everyone is contributing on the offensive end as well.
2:59 to play: IU leads 29-21 Emily Fox just picked her second after scoring only four points so far in the first half. IU has slowed down a bit on the offensive end, but continues to play tough defense.
Halftime score: IU 35 Minnesota 30 Good half overall for the Hoosiers, but Katie Ohm came off the bench and hit three straight 3's to bring Minnesota back in the game before the half. Coach Jack was visibly frustrated on the bench after Ohm hit the third 3 as she pounded the scorer's table in anger. The Hoosiers have to be a little disappointed that the lead is only five after they held a double-digit lead for much of the half.
