Planted Bloomington, local plant-based food truck and caterer announce the opening of its first brick & mortar location on Friday, October 23rd.
The restaurant is located at 400 W. 6th St., Bloomington, IN 47404, near Bloomingfoods West. Open Wednesday – Sunday, 10am – 2pm, serving lunch on the weekdays and brunch on the weekends.
Owner Nicole Schonemann says, “when conceptualizing the space, we wanted it to feel warm and cozy, like a playful home rather than a fancy restaurant. On a blustery day when you don’t want to be outside or stay at home, we want you to feel welcome at Planted.”
Guests visiting the new space can expect this atmosphere to be transferred to the menu items as well. Finding some of Chef Leah’s fan favorites from the food truck featured at the physical location, including the Violet, a banh mi influenced flat with crispy lemongrass fried tofu, ginger tamarind sauce and topped with mint, cilantro, jalapeno and spicy mayo. As well as some exciting new plant-based creations making their debut, like their Bacon Rebel Brie & Me Reduxwith savory vegan bacon, sweet jam, caramelized onions and fresh arugula.
The restaurant also will maintain Planted’s core values to support the environment, using no single-use plastic as well as carefully sourcing ingredients (including using organic and local ingredients when they can). The restaurant is ensuring sustainability in their new brick and mortar, including using plates, bowls & cups they’ve found at local thrift stores, and using reclaimed barnwood, a tree that fell in a storm and wood from Habitat Restore in their remodel.
Planted Bloomington’s food truck has been a plant-based staple in the community since their opening in 2023. Featuring a variety of unique and delicious plant-powered eats, the brand has grown and is ready to launch into the next step of their journey with the opening of their brick & mortar.
