Two weeks removed from the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, Indiana track and field competed at the NCAA East Prelims in Lexington, Kentucky. The meet served as a qualifier for the NCAA National Championships, which will happen June 10-14 in Eugene, Oregon.

Senior Tyler Carrel was the first Hoosier to qualify for Nationals with a vault of 5.45 meters on the first day of competition. He was one of 12 vaulters to qualify for Nationals.

On the third day of competition, three more Hoosiers punched their tickets to Eugene. First, senior Camden Marshall qualified for Nationals in the men’s 800-meter run.

After winning the first round of competition, he finished 10th in the quarterfinal round with a time of 1:46.49, being one of 12 to punch their tickets to Eugene. This marks the second time Marshall will compete at Nationals. The previous time was in 2024, when Marshall finished ninth in the 800-meter final.

Senior John Colquitt qualified for Nationals in the men’s 400-meter hurdles. After finishing ninth in the first round, Colquitt placed 11th in the quarterfinals with a time of 49.46, a personal best for Colquitt. He was one of 14 to qualify for the semifinals in Eugene.

The final qualifier on the third day of competition for Indiana was senior Trelee Banks-Rose. He finished 15th in the initial round of the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.18, but was not one of the 12 who advanced to the semifinals after the quarterfinal round.

However, Banks-Rose punched his ticket to Nationals, as he finished second in his heat to automatically qualify him for the semifinals in Eugene.

On the last day of competition, sophomore Veronica Hargrave qualified for Nationals in the women’s 800-meter run. After finishing 14th overall in the first round, Hargrave placed first in her heat and fourth overall with a time of 2:00.40.

With the strong results, Indiana’s presence at Nationals totaled five athletes.

The 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships start at 8 p.m. June 10 at Hayward Stadium in Eugene, Oregon. The first day will be available on ESPN and ESPN2, with the following three days on ESPN2.
