IDS creative director Natalie Cartmel and news editor Chloe Oden got the opportunity to attend the College Media National Convention in New York City this spring. This convention honors the Apple Award winners and hosts various sessions and workshops in professional development for the journalism world.

"It was an incredible experience getting to go to the CMA convention on behalf of the Indiana Daily Student. It was inspiring to be around so many people who support journalism, and more specifically, student media. I am so grateful to be part of such a dedicated newsroom and am so thankful for this chance to learn more about journalism and design," said Cartmel reflecting about this experience.

"I'm so thankful for the chance I had to represent the Indiana Daily Student at the CMA's spring convention this year and accept the awards I'm so proud of our student media organization for receiving. I'm very excited to share what I learned at the different sessions with the rest of the IDS," said Oden about her experience at the convention.

In support of the IDS's achievements, co-editor-in-chiefs Mia Hilkowitz and Andrew Miller said "We're very excited that the staff was recognized for their hard work over the past year. Our awards spanning several platforms, from digital to podcast to print, goes to show how the IDS staff is excelling at sharing stories across platforms."
