The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office charged murder suspect Briley Turner with battery and sexual battery following a Jan. 27 incident.
Turner, 27, reportedly tried to grab a correctional officer’s crotch in the Monroe County Correctional Center as he attempted to clean the camera monitoring her cell.
The probable cause affidavit states the victim and another officer entered Turner’s cell with a shield as she attempted to block the door. Turner was completely naked when the incident occurred, according to the report.
As the victim turned his back to attend to a camera monitoring the cell that was covered in peas, Turner reportedly lunged to grab his crotch. Footage from the victim’s body camera and the cell camera seemed to corroborate this story, according to the report.
The victim and the other officer reportedly restrained both of Turner’s arms immediately. After successfully restraining her, both officers promptly left the cell, according to the report.
Turner was previously incarcerated in the correctional center after she allegedly stabbed her then-boyfriend, Michael Hodge, 36, in Bloomington on Aug. 18, 2024. Hodge later died from his injuries. Turner was initially charged with aggravated battery, but the charge was upgraded to murder.
The investigation of her case is ongoing. The jury trial is scheduled to begin April 6, 2026.
