Local live music this week: love is in the air

Valentine's Day is the perfect excuse to listen to some live music with your loved ones.  

Wednesday 

Six Foot Blonde, the indie rock band which got its start in Bloomington, will perform at The Bluebird. The 21-and-up show starts at 10 p.m. with tickets costing $12.43. The band of IU alumni has one original album called “Ask Me How I Am” released in 2024. 

Thursday 

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater will host Abbey Road – A Tribute to the Beatles with The Number Ones... and MoreThe show will start at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost $41.30 to $51.56 based on seating at the theater. The California-based Beatles tribute band will be performing the group’s No. 1 singles along with other hits. The show will include costume changes and videos representing the era.  

Friday 

The Buskirk-Chumley Theater will host Over the RhineInfamous Love SongsOver the Rhine is an indie folk group consisting of musical couple Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler. The couple will be performing a show entirely of love songs they’ve written. The show will begin at 7 p.m. with tickets costing $37.20 to $42.33 depending on seating at the theater. 

Cliffs and Isaac Rudd will play at the Orbit Room. Rudd, who plays mainly rock music, will go on at 7 p.m., and Cliffs, which performs alt-rock music, will go on at 8 p.m. Tickets for the all-ages show cost $13.60, with a food or drink purchase required.  

Cover band Jukebox Luke will play at The Bluebird. Tickets for the 21-and-up show will cost $12.43, and the group will begin at 9 p.m. Jukebox Luke mainly plays rock music. 

Saturday 

The Postmodern Jazz Quartet will perform at the Orbit Room. The show begins at 6 p.m., and tickets cost $5.67 with a food or drink purchase required. The show is open to all ages. 

The Orbit Room will also host live music starting at 8:45 p.m. The show begins with Rob Funkhouser who plays experimental and ambient music followed by BASIC at 9:45 p.m. Tickets for the event will cost $17 with a required food or drink purchase. The live music event is open to all ages.  

Bloomington cover band Welcome to the Neighborhood will perform at The Bluebird starting at 9 p.m. Tickets for the 21-and-up show will cost $12.43. The cover band plays music from different genres including pop, rock, country, indie and alternative.
