Indiana football secured its first 2026 transfer portal addition Sunday morning when former Wisconsin safety Preston Zachman committed to the program. Now, the Hoosiers have acquired a second safety in the portal.
The University of Cincinnati safety transfer Jiquan Sanks has committed to Indiana, according to Hayes Fawcett’s X post Sunday. Sanks ranks as the 39th-best safety in the 2026 transfer portal, per 247Sports.
Sanks appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman for the Bearcats in 2024, starting in five of them. During his freshman campaign, Sanks collected 42 tackles and added a forced fumble.
As a sophomore in 2025, Sanks started seven games and turned in an improved statistical season, registering 50 tackles, four pass breakups and a forced fumble.
Coming out of high school, Sanks was a consensus three-star prospect and the 72nd ranked prospect in Alabama, per 247Sports. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Sanks entered the transfer portal on Dec. 15 following two seasons with the Bearcats.
With the additions of Sanks and Zachman, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti and his staff have secured additional replacement options for defensive backs Louis Moore and Devan Boykin in the secondary. Moore and Boykin exhaust their collegiate eligibility at season’s end.
