Miami transfer TE Brock Schott returns to home state, commits to Indiana football

Brock Schott first visited Indiana football in March 2023 during his high school recruitment. The third-best player in Indiana in the 2025 recruiting class instead opted to head south to the University of Miami.

Now, after one season with the Hurricanes, Schott committed to the Hoosiers, according to On3 Sports’ Hayes Fawcett’s X post. Schott announced via an X post Jan. 3 that he had opted to end the portal, where he was ranked the 20th-best tight end.

Schott played in just two games during his freshman season in Coral Gables, Florida, making two receptions for 24 yards. He previously played for Leo High School in Leo-Cedarville, Indiana.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Schott will enter Indiana’s tight end unit, which must replace all its 2025 production. Riley Nowakowski, Holden Staes and James Bomba are each out of collegiate eligibility, paving the way for Schott to potentially make an immediate impact.

Schott is the Hoosiers’ ninth transfer commitment of this cycle — all nine coming in the past two days — and the fourth on offense. He joins quarterback Josh Hoover, receiver Nick Marsh and running back Turbo Richard on offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan’s unit.

Schott now returns to his home state. He’s the first Indiana native who has transferred to the Hoosiers under head coach Curt Cignetti.
