Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti is expected to hire Tyson Brown as his new strength and conditioning coach, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.
Brown followed Jim Mora to Colorado State University in December after spending the previous two seasons on his staff at the University of Connecticut. The Huskies won 18 games throughout Brown’s tenure under Mora.
Brown arrived in Storrs, Connecticut, after spending four seasons at Mississippi State University, where he led the strength and conditioning program.
Brown also made stops at Washington State University, Elon University and Washington. He was a graduate assistant athletic performance coach at Baylor University in 2009 and a strength coach intern for the NFL’s Houston Texans in 2010.
Throughout Brown’s career, he’s coached in nine bowl games.
Brown arrives in Bloomington as Derek Owings’ successor. Owings, who was Cignetti’s strength and conditioning coach since 2020, left the Hoosiers on Tuesday to take the same position at the University of Tennessee.
Brown will now lead the 2026 Indiana squad through its winter workouts ahead of spring ball.
