The City of Bloomington Utilities recommended that nine addresses on North Walnut Street and East 19th Street boil their drinking water due to a water main break, CBU Communications Manager Daniel Frank said in a Wednesday press release.
The affected addresses include:
- 104 E. 19th St.
- 110 E. 19th St.
- 113 E. 19th St.
- 1410 N. Walnut St.
- 1416 N. Walnut St.
- 1420 N. Walnut St.
- 1500 N. Walnut St.
- 1600 N. Walnut St.
- 1610 N. Walnut St.
The advisory is expected to last until 8 a.m. Thursday, unless notified otherwise by the city.
The Indiana Department of Environmental Management requires all public water systems to place a precautionary boil water advisory when main water pressure drops below 20 psi. This can cause drinking water contamination, resulting in increased illness risk.
CBU’s press release urges affected addresses to boil all water used for drinking, cooking and oral hygiene for at least two to five minutes before use. Once the advisory is lifted, residents should run cold water from a sink or tub until the water runs clear from the faucets.
Updates on the advisory can be found on the CBU’s website.
