With Thanksgiving break right around the corner, escape the stress of this last week of school with live music.
Wednesday
The Jacobs School of Music Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will have their fall showcase Wednesday. The free event will be from 8-10 p.m. at the Musical Arts Center or online via LIVE@jacobs. The show will be conducted by Donald McKinney, Jason Nam and Eric Smedley, all of whom are professors of music at Jacobs.
Bloomington cover band Welcome to The Neighborhood will play at the 21-and-up venue The Bluebird. The show will start at 10 p.m. with tickets costing $14.25 per person.
Thursday
Jazz at the Vault will return Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Jacobs School of Music jazz studies students will play at The Vault Pub in the Indiana Memorial Union. This event is free and for any age.
Friday
Morgenstern Books and Café will host its monthly Jazz Salon with the Postmodern Jazz Quartet. The event will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Postmodern Jazz Quartet is a Bloomington jazz group that plays a variety of jazz styles with hints of blues and funk.
Live @ the Vault will return to The Vault Pub in the IMU for all ages. The free event will go from 7-9 p.m., and this week's featured musician will be IU alumnus Frank Bradford a pop and rock artist.
Saturday
The Bluebird will host Emo Nite starting at 9 p.m. Tickets for the 21-and-up show will cost $20.72. Emo Nite is a traveling DJ concept that will include a regional DJ playing emo music at the bar. DJs with Emo Nite typically play 2000s pop-punk music and other related styles.
Sunday
Touring country musician Nick Shoulders will play at The Bluebird with opener Clover-Lynn. The 21-plus show will start at 8 p.m., and tickets will cost $25.39 per person. Shoulders will play songs from his new album, “Refugia Blues.” Opener Clover-Lynn plays a mix of bluegrass and gothic country music.
