Indiana football remained at No. 2 in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night. The Hoosiers checked in at No. 2 in the first CFP rankings revealed last week.
If the season ended today, the Hoosiers would receive a first round bye, before taking on the winner of the matchup between the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Mississippi.
The top four seeds will receive a first round bye. Indiana remains slotted behind No. 1 Ohio State, and in front of No. 3 Texas A&M University and No. 4 The University of Alabama.
On Saturday, Indiana secured a close 27-24 victory over Penn State –– its first road win over the Nittany Lions in program history –– to remain undefeated on the season.
With the Hoosiers trailing 24-20 amid a potential upset and before their final drive, redshirt junior quarterback Fernando Mendoza delivered in the clutch. Mendoza led a 10-play, 80-yard possession, which ended in a redshirt junior Omar Cooper Jr. touchdown to grant the Hoosiers the lead.
Indiana holds a 10-0 overall record and a 7-0 Big Ten record heading into its final regular season home game against Wisconsin. Kickoff between the Hoosiers and the Badgers is scheduled for noon Saturday. The game will be on Big Ten Network.
