With a full week of bar shows and even a Blues festival, there are so many opportunities to get out and listen to live music this week.
Monday
The Natalie Boeyink Jazz Ensemble will perform at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Boeyink, a professor of jazz at the Jacobs School of Music, and others in the band focus on Brazilian, Afro-Cuban and Caribbean jazz. Doors open at 7 p.m., but the show starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be free.
Wednesday
Jukebox Luke will perform at The Bluebird at 10 p.m. The band typically plays alternative and classic rock covers. Tickets at the 21+ venue cost $14.25.
Thursday
Monthly Music Night with Pat Otto will happen at the Juniper Art Gallery from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It’s free to attend, but donations are encouraged and will go to the musician. Pat Otto is a multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter. He will play both covers and originals on the guitar and mandolin.
Bloomington cover band Welcome to the Neighborhood will play with alternative rock band Out of Office at The Bluebird. The show starts at 9:30 p.m. and is 21+. The tickets cost $14.25.
Friday
Food Truck Friday will return with food trucks galore and live music from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Switchyard Park. Live music typically goes from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The organizers will announce who will perform on their Facebook a few days before the event.
Chicago’s Rod Tuff Curls & the Bench Press will perform their large repertoire of cover songs at The Bluebird. The doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $20.72 and the venue is 21+.
Saturday
Local indie-rock band Six Foot Blonde will play at The Bluebird at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $14.25.
Sunday
The Bloomington Blues and Boogie Woogie Piano Festival will take over different venues beginning Sunday. The event will feature musicians like C.J. Chenier, Ben Toury and Eden Brent. The schedule is on their website and there will be some free and some ticketed shows. At 1:30 p.m. at the Monroe County History Center, Eden Brent will host a performance and workshop with other women in the blues industry featuring chords, riffs and songwriting tips from her latest album. The event is free but limited to 80 people. At 5:30 p.m., the main concert featuring many artists will start. The later event will be ticketed and costs $34.12 for adults and $23.87 for kids 12 and under and is at the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts.
Country singer Paul Cauthen will be performing at The Bluebird at 8 p.m. The show is for ages 21 and up and tickets will cost $39.12.
