As fall approaches, the perfect way to get out is by listening to live music. This week, Bloomington residents can enjoy a wide variety of events, including comedy for musicians.
Monday
The Jacobs School of Music will host an evening of Jazz by the Tom Walsh Jazz Ensemble. It will be at the Musical Arts Center or available to view online at LIVE@jacobs from 8 to 10 p.m. The event is free to attend.
Tuesday
The recurring Honky Tonk Tuesday will return at the Blockhouse Bar. It goes from 8:30 to 11 p.m., and the venue is for ages 21 and up. Honky Tonk Tuesday is a night of country and rock and roll classics.
Wednesday
Bloomington cover band Welcome to the Neighborhood will play at The Bluebird starting at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $14.25, and the show is 21 and up.
Thursday
Comedian and musician Fred Armisen will continue his Comedy for Musicians but Everyone is Welcome tour at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Accurate to the name of his tour, the show mixes comedy and music. Tickets will cost $45, and doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m.
Friday
The weekly Food Truck Friday at Switchyard Park lasts from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during October. It features weekly live music and performances from 5 to 8 p.m. Organizers haven’t announced this week's performances yet but usually post it on their Facebook. This event is free to attend.
Local Bloomington band Opal will play at The Bluebird starting at 9 p.m. Opal is made up of students who formed a band through the Bloomington Delta Music Club. The show is for ages 21 and up, and tickets cost $14.25.
