A week full of live music awaits. From jazz to blues to bar shows, there is something for everyone this week.
Monday
Alternative country rock band American Aquarium will play at the Bluebird. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $27.46, and the venue is restricted to people aged 21 or older.
The Jacobs School of Music is presenting a jazz ensemble by Brent Wallarab, professor of jazz studies at Jacobs. The performance is free from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Musical Arts Center, or you can watch it online through LIVE@jacobs.
Tuesday
The Jacobs School of Music will present a performance by the concert band and the symphonic band from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Musical Arts Center. The performance is free, and you can watch it online at LIVE@jacobs.
Blockhouse Bar hosts a weekly Honky Tonk Tuesday from 8:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and participants must be 21 or older.
Wednesday
The Jacobs School of Music will present the Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jeffery Meyer at the Musical Arts Center from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The performance is in affiliation with the American Composers Orchestra’s EarShot program. The show will feature new works by winners of the EarShot competition held last March at the Jacobs School of Music.
Thursday
October’s First Thursdays will be held this week from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Plaza and will feature two performance stages. There will be performances from NOTUS, IU Musical Theatre, Bloomington Delta Music Club and Kid Kazooey, among others.
Friday
The Jacobs School of Music presents a concert by the Brass Band conducted by Nick Hinman. The performance is free and runs from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Conrad Prebys Ampitheater.
Join the Postmodern Jazz Quartet at Morgenstern Books & Café for their monthly jazz salon evening. The free event is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Although it typically happens on the third Friday of each month, it was pushed this month due to scheduling conflicts.
Local Salsa band La Salsoteca will be playing at Blockhouse Bar from 8 p.m. to midnight. This is a monthly event that occurs on the first Friday of every month. Tickets cost $10 and the show is for people 21 years and older.
Taking it back to the ‘70s, Fleetwood Mac cover band “Back 2 Mac” will play at the Bluebird. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. with tickets costing $20.72. The show is for attendees 21 and older.
Saturday
Upland Brewing Company will host the 2025 Bloomington Blues Fest from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Upland Brewing Company. You can buy tickets in advance for $20, or you can purchase them the day of the event for $25.
Hank Ruff and Jake Dodds will play ‘90s country at the Bluebird starting at 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $14.25 and the show is for attendees 21 and older.
