Ahead of No. 19 Indiana football’s matchup with No. 9 Illinois at 7:30 p.m. Saturday inside Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, just three Hoosiers appeared on the Big Ten availability report.
Senior punter Mitch McCarthy, who suffered an undisclosed injury during the season opener Aug. 30 and missed the last two games, is slated to return. Freshman safety Byron Baldwin Jr. remains out with an undisclosed injury. The prized recruit has yet to make his collegiate debut.
Sixth-year senior Bryson Bonds and redshirt junior Lee Beebe Jr. were also on the report as both are out for the season.
In terms of the Fighting Illini, First Team All-Big Ten senior defensive back Xavier Scott was ruled out. Illinois head coach Bret Bielema said Thursday that Scott was likely to be out as he is dealing with a right foot/ankle injury.
The Fighting Illini are also without 10 other players for the primetime showdown on NBC.
