Indiana men’s basketball will host an intrasquad scrimmage at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, according to an Indiana Athletics release Monday.
The contest is free and open to the public. Doors will open at approximately 5:30 p.m. Fans are asked to donate a canned food item to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank, the release stated.
The scrimmage allows Indiana fans to get their maiden look at first-year head coach Darian DeVries’ squad. DeVries was hired March 18 and assembled a new staff that will patrol the sidelines: Drew Adams, Rod Clark, Kenny Johnson and Nick Norton.
DeVries and his staff compiled the 10th-best transfer portal class, according to 247Sports, with 10 total transfers.
The Hoosiers made a trip to Puerto Rico in early August, when they went 3-0 in exhibition games. They defeated Mega SuperBet twice and Universidad de Bayamon.
The men’s and women’s programs will host Hoosier Hoops on Kirkwood on Oct. 2 — the day before the scrimmage. The Hoosiers will compete in skills competitions and host meet-and-greets with fans on the 300-500 blocks of Kirkwood Ave.
