No. 22 Indiana football’s Big Ten opener against No. 9 Illinois will kick off at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and be broadcast on NBC, according to the conference’s X post. The contest, which has been sold out since July 31, will also be a “red out” for the fans inside Memorial Stadium.
ESPN’s College GameDay made its first trip to Indiana in 2024 for the Hoosiers’ matchup with Washington on Oct. 26. The famed pregame show could make its second visit to Bloomington for the contest between two College Football Playoff hopefuls; however, its destination won’t be announced until early next week.
The last time the Hoosiers earned a victory over a top 10 opponent in Bloomington came in 2020, when former quarterback Michael Penix Jr. reached for the pylon in the north end zone to secure the win over No. 8 Penn State.
Illinois began its season 2-0, headlined by a 45-19 road win over Duke University on Sept. 6. The Fighting Illini will face off with Western Michigan University at 7:30 p.m. Saturday as they look to enter the showdown with the Hoosiers at 3-0.
The Hoosiers are 2-0 ahead of their final nonconference game, which is slated for 6:30 p.m. Friday against Indiana State University.
