Ahead of No. 11 Indiana football’s first road test of the season at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against Iowa, the Hoosiers’ lockdown corner’s status is uncertain, according to the Big Ten availability report.
Junior defensive back D’Angelo Ponds is listed as questionable with an apparent undisclosed ailment. The Miami native was seen stretching with a Hoosiers staff member in the northeast tunnel pregame. He played in each of the Cream and Crimson’s first four contests, totaling 11 tackles and three tackles for loss.
Ponds earned second-team All-America honors and first-team All-Big Ten recognition in his first season in Bloomington in 2024.
Freshman safety Byron Baldwin Jr., who has yet to make his collegiate debut, remains out. Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti said Baldwin was “day-to-day" Sept. 1. He explained in a press conference Monday that the Hoosiers would “know more” later that day regarding Baldwin’s undisclosed injury.
Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. inside Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, as the Hoosiers seek a 5-0 start for the second consecutive season. The matchup will stream on Peacock.
