CofB Volunteer.jpg

The following is a press release written by Michelle Moss for the City of Bloomington Volunteer Network.

The mission of the Monroe County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (MoCOAD) is to coordinate support and promote local efforts to enhance the community's ability to mitigate, prepare, respond, and recover from disasters in Monroe County.

The MoCOAD is looking for volunteers to assist with debris cleanup and transporting curbside and property debris to County-provided dumpsters. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, pass a background check, and are required to sign a Volunteer Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, Release, Hold-harmless, and Indemnification Agreement. Volunteers with trucks and trailers would be invaluable! Valid driver's license and current insurance coverage are required.

Dates, times, and locations are still forthcoming. MoCOAD will email interested volunteers with specifics once they are available and schedule shifts. Volunteers will be grouped into teams that will work together on designated properties.

Youth Storytelling Workshop

Join this free workshop hosted by WFHB's Youth Radio, designed for kids ages 8 to 12 to share their stories on the radio! In the first half of the workshop, participants will learn how to tell a compelling story and will be guided to write their own - either a true personal experience or a fictional tale - based on themes like community, friendship, and acceptance. Kids will record their stories during the second half and create accompanying illustrations. They'll also get a hands-on introduction to audio recording and learn about volunteering at WFHB. Sign-up is required, and parents are welcome to attend.
