The Blackfork Bestiary is Robert Langham’s photographic collection of insects and animals. The collection will be on display Dec. 1 – Jan. 27 at Pictura Gallery inside of the FAR Center for Contemporary Arts on Fourth Street. The collection includes photos of animals and insects that are a part of the Blackfork Creek ecosystem in Texas.

Langham, a photographer and naturalist, discovered his photography subjects within his backyard in Tyler, Texas, which sits in the Blackfork Creek area. The opening reception will take place 5 8 p.m. Dec. 1, and Langham will give an artist talk at 6 p.m. The event is free to the public, and food and drink will be available for purchase.

There will be a children’s workshop 11 a.m.–noon Dec. 2. The children will participate in an activity inspired by the photos. The free event requires registration and is ideal for children ages 6 and up.

The artwork is on view 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
