D1Softball named its All-Americans Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Women’s College World Series, which begins Thursday. The publication announced the First and Second teams, along with the Freshman Team.

Indiana freshman infielder Taryn Kern was recognized as one of the best college softball players, being named to both the D1Softball All-American First Team and Freshman Team.

Kern finished the season with a .404 batting average, 23 home runs, 68 runs batted in, a .578 on-base percentage and a .942 slugging percentage. The 23 homers are currently tied for second in the NCAA.

The staggering numbers also earned her Big Ten Freshman and Player of the Year, the first Hoosier to win both in a season.
