Monroe County Health Department releases December report for food inspection violations

The Monroe County Health Department published its food inspection report for the month of December. Prior to this decision, food inspection reports were attained through public records requests.  

The report lists both critical and non-critical violations. Critical violations are more likely to cause illness, food contamination or environmental hazards.  

Critical violations  

AmVets Post 2000 

5227 W. Airport Road 

Violations include a lack of a certified food manager at the facility, no chemical sanitizer at the dish washer and potentially hazardous ready-to-eat foods without a date marking.  

 

BBQ Train 

903 N. Smith Road 

Violations include ready-to-eat foods without a date marking.  

 

Bell Trace Senior Living Center Bistro 

800 N. Bell Trace Circle 

Violations include the absence of an air gap in the plumbing in order to prevent backflow under the soda machine. 

 

Bloomington Country Club 

3000 S. Rogers St. 

Violations include mold buildup in the ice machine and pop nozzle at bar.  

 

Bowl 

2800 E. Buick Cadillac Blvd. 

Violation was due to dishwasher sanitization having incorrect concentrations.  

 

Buffalo Wild Wings  

1350 Bloomfield Road 

Violation was due to mold buildup in the ice dispenser in the host area. 

 

The Cabin 

4015 S. State Road 446 

Violation was due to storing raw meat for more than 24 hours with no date marking.  

 

Cardinal Spirits 

992 S. Morton Ave. 

Violation was due to a lack of a food manager. 

 

China Star Restaurant 

4641 W. Richlanda Plaza

Violations include employees with drinks without lids, cooked chicken at 56°F as well as sitting at room temperature, raw chicken that was sitting without temperature control, potentially hazardous ready-to-eat items stored without a date marking, a cutting board sitting on a table that contained raw food juice and debris and the lack of chemical sanitizer to clean food preparing surfaces.  

 

Cloverleaf South 

325 E. Winslow Road 

Violations include no date marking on prepared, refrigerated foods and a lack of a sanitizing bucket while cooking and prepping foods.  

 

Cozy Table  

2500 W. Third St. 

Violations include the presence of mold in an ice machine and roaches in the facility.  

 

El Ranchero I 

3615 W. State Road 

Violations include improper thawing of chicken, no chemical sanitizer for the dish washer and no chemical sanitizing bucket.  

 

El Ranchero III 

110 E. Winslow Road 

Violations include the buildup of mold on soda machine nozzle and ice machine in the kitchen, the lack of a sanitizing bucket available while cooking and preparing food and handles of scoops not being protected from contamination.  

 

Fairfax Inn 

8660 S. Fairfax Road 

Violations include unlabeled spray bottles and mold buildup in the soda machine dispenser.  

 

Garnish Catering 

3116 Canterbury Court 

Violations include the lack of a certified food manager and mold buildup in the ice machine. 

 

Great Taste Buffet 

3616 W. Third St. 

Violations include food debris on hand sinks, potentially hazardous food items without a date marking, mold in the ice machine, food debris buildup in the microwave and mold buildup in soda machine nozzles. 

 

Hinkle’s Hamburgers 

206 S. Adam St. 

Violations include rodent bait in the facility without a bait box and sanitizer buckets reading at too low of concentrations. 

 

Kilroy’s Sports Bar 

319 N. Walnut St. 

Violations include chemical spray bottles without a label and mold buildup in the upstairs ice machine. 

 

King Gyros 

2000 S. Walnut St. 

Violations include no date marking on foods in the walk-in cooler, no sanitizing buckets ready to clean food contact surfaces and equipment and the lack of a certified food manager. 

 

Mama’s Korean Restaurant  

2630 E. 10th St. 

Violations include a hand sink with a bowl inside, raw beef stored above vegetables in a cooling unit, a chemical spray bottle without a label and a lack of date markings on ready-to-eat foods. 

 

Mother Bear’s Pizza West 

2980 W. Whitehall Crossing 

Violation was due to the chemical sanitizers buckets not being at the proper concentration.  

 

Oasis 

2652 E. 10th St. 

Violations include dead cockroaches found under equipment throughout the kitchen area, no date markings on ready-to-eat food, a hand sink by the food preparation area blocked and raw beef that was stored above vegetables in a cooling unit. 

 

Office Lounge 

3900 E. Third St. 

Violation was due to a soda gun nozzle with mold buildup. 

 

Sahms at Eagle Point 

2250 E. Pointe Drive 

Violations include the buildup of mold on soda machine dispensers in the kitchen and issues with the dishwasher causing it to not reach the proper chemical sanitizer concentration. 

 

Steak n’ Shake #242 

2101 S. Liberty Drive 

Violation was due to mold buildup on the ice machine.  

 

Southern Stone  

405 W. Patterson Drive 

Violation was due to the lack of a certified food manager.  

 

Sakura Japanese Restaurant  

895 S. College Mall Road 

Violations include mold found in the soda dispenser and the reach in cooler near the cool work station.  

 

Wee Willie’s 

4618 W. Richland Plaza 

Violations include no certified food manager and sanitizer reading below the required concentration.
