Coming off three goal contributions in the 4-2 victory against Penn State, redshirt senior forward Ryan Wittenbrink was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, according to a conference release Tuesday.

Wittenbrink’s first-ever Big Ten individual award marks a sweep of weekly accolades after the Hoosiers’ leading goal scorer also earned Team of the Week honors from both TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News.

In the win over the Nittany Lions, Wittenbrink scored his third penalty kick goal of the season and added two assists to bring his overall totals to six goals and five assists. His first assist was a corner kick that found junior defender Joey Maher’s head at the far post to open the scoring. His second assist, a well-placed cross to senior forward Herbert Endeley, extended the Hoosiers’ lead to three.

Two different Indiana players have been named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week in three weeks after Endeley earned the award Oct. 4. Endeley sits right behind Wittenbrink with 10 points this season.

Wittenbrink’s only other Team of the Week nomination, courtesy of TopDrawerSoccer, came during the 2021 COVID-19-shortened spring season, in which he posted his previous single-season high goal total of five. Currently, Wittenbrink leads all Indiana players and is second in the conference with 17 points.

Wittenbrink will look to add onto his most productive season against Wisconsin at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Madison, Wisconsin.
