The IU women's basketball team huddles before the start of its game against Wisconsin on Jan. 10, 2021, in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Guard Sydney Parrish announced her decision to transfer to Indiana women’s basketball on Saturday morning.

Sydney Parrish, a guard who just completed her sophomore season at the University of Oregon, will transfer to Indiana and join the women’s basketball team, according to Parrish’s Twitter account.

Originally from Fishers, Indiana, Parrish was recruited by Indiana coming out of high school but instead chose to attend Oregon. She appeared in 55 total games across two seasons with the Ducks, including starting all 32 games last season. Last year, Parrish averaged 8.5 points per game and shot over 35% from 3-point range.

Parrish will look to make an immediate impact for an Indiana program that saw three starters graduate. Before Parrish announced her transfer, Indiana only had three guards on the roster: Chloe Moore-McNeil, Grace Berger, and Kaitlin Peterson.

Because of the NCAA’s COVID-19 policy, Parrish will have three years of eligibility remaining.
