A 56-year-old man was arrested and preliminarily charged in connection to a Tuesday homicide.

A 29-year-old man was fatally shot, an autopsy confirmed Wednesday, according to a BPD press release.

The suspect, identified as Gary W. O’Bryant, was taken into custody as officers searched the residence in the 900 block of W Graham Drive. Officers located evidence indicating someone had been injured inside and then found the dead man inside a bedroom.

An anonymous individual contacted BPD prior at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday to inform them of a suspected shooting.

Officers checked the area and attempted to contact several residences but were unable to locate anything suspicious. A few hours later, investigators spoke with two people aware of the shooting.

Investigators petitioned the Monroe County Circuit Court, Division III, for a search warrant. The warrant was granted and officers located the man in the residence who had died.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact BPD.
