No. 5/10 Indiana and No. 7/3 Michigan men’s and women’s swim and dive teams have mutually agreed to cancel their meet scheduled for Saturday at Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, due to rising COVID-19 concerns, according to an Indiana Athletics press release Wednesday.

The release highlighted the importance of keeping the athletes and respective programs safe and healthy. Saturday’s meet was the first scheduled event of Indiana’s 2022 season.

Indiana last faced Michigan in the 2021 Big Ten Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in March 2021 and February 2021, respectively. In the men’s competition, Michigan took first place and Indiana finished as the runner-up. For the women, Michigan came in second and Indiana followed in third.

Indiana’s start to the 2022 season will now come against No. 11/15 University of Louisville at 2 p.m. on Jan. 14 inside Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatics Center in Bloomington, Indiana.
