A 36-year-old man died and another was injured following a shooting Sunday morning, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo said in an email.

Responding officers arrived around 4:34 a.m. at 524 S. Basswood Dr. and found two men inside an apartment with gunshot wounds, Pedigo said. One of the men died at the scene.

The other man, 46, was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for treatment and later flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment, Pedigo said.

Police are still investigating what led to the shooting, and the condition of the injured person is not known. There is no current threat to the community, Pedigo said.

Police believe the deceased man and the injured man knew each other. They did not comment on any information about the suspects related to the case.

Pedigo said anyone with information about the shooting should contact Detective Wade Berry at 812-339-4477.
