IU softball associate coach Chanda Bell was elected into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame on Thursday.

"Words cannot express how honored I am to be inducted into the Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame," Bell said in a press release. "I was blessed with a successful college career with amazing coaches and teammates. I never could have imagined this day would come, but I am grateful to those who helped me get here."

Bell, who has been an associate coach at IU since 2018, played at Kentucky from 2009 to 2012 and holds five school records, including strikeouts in a game, season and career.

Bell threw five no-hitters, including the program's first no-hitter in 2009 and first perfect game in 2012.

IU tallied a 12-9 record under head coach Shonda Stanton, Bell and the rest of the coaching staff before the season was canceled earlier this spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bell was named pitching coach for the Chicago Bandits for the 2020 National Pro Fastpitch season earlier this summer.

An event at a future date will honor Bell and five other members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
