Homeless Bloomington man robbed, physically attacked near Monroe County Public Library

A homeless 34-year-old man was sleeping outside the Monroe County Public Library early Thursday morning. He was awoken by two people pulling on his backpack, demanding he give it to them.

A man woke up to two people demanding his bag and was physically attacked when he declined.

He pulled his bag back and was hit in the face around 10 times with what he believes was a black handgun.

The man who was attacked stated he believes his attackers were two men, but he was not wearing his glasses, so his vision was blurred. One of the suspects may have been wearing a white hoodie.

The two people took the man’s second bag and fled, heading west. The man was taken to the hospital and was treated but not admitted.

Police went to the area and found blood, confirming there was an attack. Police did not find anyone on Kirkwood Avenue that fit the description.
