An unidentified man stole 8 yards of fabric from Joann Fabrics on Saturday by stuffing it down his pants.

Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Benjamin Burnes said the suspect entered the westside store at approximately 10:27 a.m. The man was white and approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall.

The store manager told police he saw the man take 8 yards of fabric and put it inside his pants. The fabric, called “American Summer,” was navy blue and had a bandanna print, Burnes said. It was priced at $9.95 per yard, making the total value of the stolen fabric $79.60.

Burnes said the manager approached the man and asked him if he was finding everything he was looking for. The man told him he had found everything OK and left the store. The manager then called the police.

The case is currently inactive.
